MyLife.com, a site that has over 60 million registered users, has announced the launch of the MyLife Social App and Dashboard, which is available both on the Web and on mobile phones that run either Android or iOS.

The company also announced the results from the "Connecting and Communication Online: State of Social Media" study, which was conducted online by Harris Interactive. 62% of the residents of the United States said that they fear that if they don't check their social media feeds, they will miss out on important news or events.

And that's not all. 40% of the people questioned said that they would prefer to do traditionally hated tasks rather than shut down their social profiles. Among those tasks they have listed running a marathon, reading "War and Peace", waiting in a huge line at the DMV, cleaning the showers at their local gym, doing their taxes, going to the dentist for a root canal or even spending a night in jail.

The study also showed that although Facebook is the most popular social network in the world, things aren't exactly the same for the United States. Facebook didn't manage to win at any category analyzed in the survey:

1 Sharing information: Foursquare (44%), Facebook (17%)

2 Consuming information: LinkedIn (68%), followed by Youtube (57%) and Twitter (53%)

3 Equally sharing and consuming content: Pinterest (46%), Facebook (44%), Tumblr (41%)

More than half of the respondents (57%) wish that there could be a way to manage all their social media network updates in a single place, without having to switch between so many websites.

MyLife's CEO, Jeff Tinsley, declared that they created the dashboard in order to help people manage their virtual lives more easily, without having to juggle between multiple websites. By using the new dashboard, the users can view their social media feeds and email in a single place, by using only one password.

At the moment you can link your Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL accounts, as well as your LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter social profiles. Compatibility for Tumblr and Pinterest will be added shortly.
