The video opens with Barbara stating that she is independent, and she likes to do what she wants. Despite a car accident in the 70’s in which she lost her leg, she lives alone. Barbara recounts the story of an event in which she realized the importance of her medical alert system to that independence.

While traveling on her electric wheelchair, which she refers to as her “putt-putt”, Barbara became stuck as her battery power ran low. This left her unable to go anywhere. Barbara pressed her medical alert button, and help arrived quickly to give her a hand.
