Inconel 718 is a precipitation hardened nickel- chromium based alloy. Chemically, alloy 718 also contains significant amounts of elements such as iron, niobium, and molybdenum along with trace amounts of aluminium and titanium in its alloy. Inconel 718 fasteners is known for its combination of superior resistance to corrosion and high tensile strength along with outstanding weldability properties including resistance to post- weld cracking.

Inconel 718 material fasteners can be used at extreme temperatures. For instance, alloy 718 fasteners are able to demonstrate excellent performance when subjected to cryogenic temperatures as low as -423 °F to elevated temperatures that can rise as high as 1300 °F. This particular age hardened alloy can be easily fabricated, even into complex parts such as fasteners.
Due to the ease and economy, with which Inconel 718 fasteners can be fabricated, in combination with its impressive properties such as good tensile strength, fatigue strength, creep strength , as well as rupture strength, have resulted in the use of Alloy 718 Bolts across a wide range of applications.

These unique blend of properties offered by the Inconel 718 fasteners such as the UNS N07718 Nut Bolt allows it to be used in the aerospace, marine, nuclear, chemical, petrochemical and offshore industries.

As an alloy in order to fulfil the requirements of individual specifications, Inconel 718 can be age hardened as well as solution treated at a number of varied temperature settings. Each heat treatment performed on the alloy can offer the client with a different set of not only physical properties, but also mechanical properties ideal for varied applications.

The subsequent age hardening process provides the UNS N07718 Nut Bolt with the best combination of rupture life, rupture ductility and notch rupture as well. This increase or enhancement of properties has been attained due to the development of a fine grain structure. This fine grain structure is also what offers the UNS N07718 Nut Bolt with the highest tensile strength and yield strengths through an extensive range of temperatures from ranging from –253 ºC to 705 ºC.

One of the highlights of Alloy 718 is its exceptional resistance to corrosion in a wide range of media. For instance, the Alloy 718 Bolts has excellent performance in a number of different environments including those conditions where the alloy has been subjected to organic acids, inorganic acids (although not strongly oxidizing), sour gasses and hydrogen sulphide. As a metal, Inconel 718 is also particularly resistant to chloride ion stress related corrosion cracking. The chromium content existing in the material of these Alloy 718 Bolts results in an exceptional resistance to both oxidation and sulphur compounds, even when Inconel 718 fasteners have been subjected to elevated temperatures of up to 980 ºC. The addition of molybdenum content in the alloy aids in improving the overall pitting resistance of the material.
