Anchor Dance Studio is one of the best dance studios in NJ. We have been teaching Ballroom Dancing, Latin and Social Dancing since 1978. We have experienced dance instructors who have high knowledge about all the dance styles, classical and theatre dance forms, who will mentor the students. We have been teaching all types of Ballroom Dancing styles. In the United States, Ballroom Dancing is categorized into two forms: American smooth and American Rhythm. Salsa, Tango, Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Bachata and Souk are American Rhythm Dancing Forms and Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Hustle, Merengue, Quick Step and Viennese Waltz are dancing forms in American Smooth.

Tango

Tango is one of the most popular Dance forms of Ballroom Dancing in American Rhythm. Tango originated in Buenos Aries, Argentina. It is a couple dance and sensual form of dance, where the partners dance to the movement of the music. There are different styles of Tango, in which American Tango and Argentina Tango are most popular. In Tango, the couple can dance either in open embrace, where the couple has spaces between their bodies while dancing or in Close Embrace frame, where the couple has connected to chest-chest while dancing. Tango is danced to repetitive dance music on the count of 16 or 32 beats.

Waltz

Waltz is another most popular Ballroom Dancing style in the American Smooth form. It originated from the suburbs of Vienna and the Alpine region of Austria. It is also a couple dance form in closed position. This dance style is performed in full turn of two measures using three steps per measure, which is generally referred as triple count or time. The basic step is a common box step which is followed by steps in a count of 123,123,123. Waltz is a beautiful, elegant, attractive and very sensual dance form, where the partner’s bodies contact throughout the dance.
