Sowohl das Tablet als auch die Basiseinheit mit Tastatur verfügen über eigene Akkus und verschiedene Anschlüsse – bei der Tastatur etwa sind das insgesamt drei USB-Anschlüsse, HDMI- und Klinkenausgang und SD-Kartenschlitz. Das Bildschirm-Element besitzt Steckplätze für USB 3.0, SD-Speicherkarten sowie einen HDMI-Ausgang und einen Klinkenanschluss. Außerdem verfügen die beiden Hauptkomponenten über eigenen Massespeicher – 64 GB im Tablet, 500 GB in der Tastaturbasis.

Da auch die Akkus in Smartphones nur sehr klein sein können, arbeiten ARM-Chipsätze wie dem Snapdragon 835 sehr energieeffizient. In den neuen Notebooks von Microsoft und seinen Hardware-Partnern sollen diese Prozessoren nun von Akkus in üblicher Größe mit Energie versorgt werden – und angeblich führt das also zu einer deutlich gesteigerten Laufzeit. Wir sind gespannt, wie sich die Geräte in der Praxis schlagen. Immerhin sind die Notebook-Bildschirme weiterhin sehr viel größer als die von Smartphones und auch die verwendete Software ist eine andere.
