Florida made history on January 5 when it became the first state to receive federal authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for their plan of importing prescription drugs in bulk from another country.

FDA approves Florida's proposal to import prescription drugs from Canada - a first for the US. Medications for diabetes, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and mental illness are targeted, with savings of up to $150m per year for Floridians.
