Recovery from Disaster

I am on my way to a National conference of Volunteer Organizations active in disasters.

Hurricane season is fast approaching. The more each group learns of the others the stronger and more efficient we can be in our interwoven responses, and therefore be of the most help to those who have been hit.

Last year I was part of the response team from Churches of Scientology Disaster Response. We arrived the day after Hurricane Michael, on 11 October and stayed straight through the weekend before Thanksgiving. So many of all the groups helped so much.

The devastation was vast, and in some areas, complete. And was spread over a very wide area. Individuals and governments persist in rebuilding. Resources are needed in quantities comparable to the destruction.

850 STRONG !! #850 STRONG, started showing up on signs all over the City of Callaway, Panama City, and other cities and towns in the Florida panhandle. 850 is the area code for all these towns and cities. This community pulled itself together and chose to be strong.

Today the people of the 850 region still get up in the morning and choose to be strong. Strong in themselves and strong together. Strong in spirit and strong in persistence.

The slogan "Something can be done about it." by L. Ron Hubbard, was given to the Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology. The citizens of the panhandle exemplify this.
