Over the years, people have shared many study tips to help students learn better so they can score well in school/college or crack an MBA entrance exam. While a lot of the advice is sound and followed to this day, there are a few that you should avoid like the plague.
Here are four of the worst study tips from the past that you still hear:

Stay In Your Seat Till You Learn Everything

This is perhaps one of the worst study tips that some misguided but well-meaning people use over and over again. Students will stay in their seats, hungry, thirsty, exhausted until they can no longer process any information present in front of them. This method, however, doesn’t work. Your brain is notorious when it comes to processing and retaining new information.

A better approach is to take breaks. Study for 45 minutes at a stretch and take a small 10-minute break to eat, drink, and regroup. These 10-minute breaks will actually help you focus better.

Cramming All Your Notes Is A Good Idea

Cramming you notes can work if your sole purpose is to retain information for a short period of time for a test. However, if you are someone who is interested in retaining your knowledge for a longer period of time, then cramming is the worst possible way to go about doing so. Your brain needs time and repetitions to understand information and commit it to long-term memory.

Test Strategies Are A Waste Of Time

Many students have found that test strategies help them to score better. If you are preparing for the upcoming MBA entrance exams 2018 it’s important that you also employe test-taking strategies.

Pull An All-Nighter Before The Test

This is one tip that you should definitely not follow. Lack of sleep can result in your brain shutting down in the middle of the test. Seven hours of sleep before a big test is extremely important since that’s when your brain gets the chance to commit information to memory. If you want your brain to function at optimal capacity then study late, but get to bed.

No doubt, exams can be scary and overwhelming. The closer the snap exam date 2018 gets, the more tried and tested study tips come in handy. However, it’s important that you pay attention to what you follow. The above-mentioned tips are some you should avoid at all costs.
