As early as 2016, Capgemini was one of the pioneers in its industry to set science-based targets for reducing carbon emissions that were confirmed by SBTi. These were attained in January 2020, 10 years early than anticipated and before COVID lockdowns. Since then, the Group has implemented a ten-point global programme covering business travel, personnel travel, office and data centre energy use, as well as emissions from acquired goods and services. The Group is presently transitioning to 100% renewable electricity by 2025 and has aggressively engaged with its top 100 suppliers, which together account for over 50% of all supply chain emissions. A special Energy Command Center (ECC), which Capgemini just unveiled, uses digitalization and the exploitation of measured and predicted data to monitor and manage energy performance across its campuses in India, which make up nearly a fifth of the Group's energy footprint. Since its inception, the ECC has reduced energy use by an estimated 20%, significantly advancing its efforts toward sustainable development.
