The event gathered SMILE family members, supporters, and volunteers for a day of reflection, inspiration, and renewed commitment to transforming lives through education and empowerment.
Celebrating Culture, Unity, and Talent
The celebration opened with a traditional Tamil invocation and ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing a warm and hopeful start to the festivities. Children delighted the audience with their talents, performing dances and participating in a colorful fancy dress showcase. Each young performer received gifts as a gesture of appreciation. SMILE President Nithiyanandan Anandakrishnan spoke to the gathering, expressing gratitude for the organization’s journey and outlining future initiatives.
Milestones and Achievements
Secretary Gunasekaran presented a timeline of SMILE’s growth, sharing 20 key milestones that marked the organization’s impact, from the establishment of Karunai Illam to current projects such as Atchaya in Vembakkam. To commemorate the anniversary, SMILE also released the second edition of Punnagai Paalam Vazhikatti, a motivational guide dedicated to inspiring young students.
Inspiring Stories and Messages of Support
Students shared stories of resilience, detailing how SMILE’s support helped them overcome personal challenges. Chief Guest Hari Krishnan from IIT Madras inspired the young audience to pursue their dreams and pledged IIT’s support for SMILE through scholarships, reinforcing the importance of community and educational access.
Recognitions, Fundraising, and New Initiatives
The event honored exceptional students and dedicated volunteers with mementos, recognizing their commitment and achievements. A gallery of photographs and a video booth captured SMILE’s journey, inviting attendees to engage with the organization’s history. Commemorative water bottles were sold to support future initiatives, and a generous donor contributed ₹50,000 on stage, demonstrating community support.

As the day concluded, SMILE Foundation set its sights on a brighter future, reaffirming its dedication to empowering youth and enhancing educational opportunities for those in need.
