Gurgaon, 15 March 2022: On 21st of February Amity Global School, a leading IBDP school Gurugram celebrated international Home Language Day with its PYP students.
The school encourages its students to value languages as a window into culture via learning and understanding how they work. Through different activities organised by the teachers, the students gain insights into their own and other cultures. They also understand the different ways of thinking about the concepts they learn at school.
For the International Language Day in February 2022, the students of this international K12 school Gurugram participated in activities related to their mother tongue and other languages spoken globally.
Grade 3 students depicted their thoughts on posters that were made using digital tools such as Canva. One of them also sang a Garhwali song with his classmates.

The parents of some students actively participated in the Language Day’s activity. A Grade 5 student’s father shared counting, greetings and a story in Japanese. Because of his work experience in Japan he had good knowledge of the language and continues to use it while communicating with global colleagues in his office. He also translated the Japanese story in English and Hindi to help students understand it better.
Another student’s mother shared a story – Khilone Wala Kamara - in her mother tongue Hindi. Likewise, there were several other narrations in Indian languages including Oriya, Maithili, Gujarati and Sinhalese.
In addition to its affiliation to the IB Board for the PYP and Diploma Programme, Amity Global School also follows the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) programmes.
