What does MOT my car mean?

Posted June 3, 2022 by sikandar

The MOT test (Ministry of Transport or simply MOT) is an annual test of vehicle safety,

roadworthiness aspects and exhaust emissions required in the United Kingdom for most vehicles over three years old.
How often should I MOT my car?
Once a vehicle reaches the third anniversary of its registration however, an MOT testing center is mandatory. If your vehicle passes its test then a certificate will be issued and this lasts for one year. Every owner needs to renew their MOT certificate before it expires but this can only be done one month before.
Can I drive if my MOT has expired?
A MOT should be restored before it terminates. When it lapses, this implies you can't drive your vehicle on open streets, your vehicle protection won't be legitimate, and drivers could be indicted.
Can I drive my car without MOT if it is booked in?
You are only allowed to drive your car when its MOT has expired IF you've booked in for the test and that's where you're driving to. If you're stopped on the way you MUST be able to prove that you have an appointment with an MOT centre. Book MOT on time
What does full car service include?
Checks during a car service can incorporate the motor oil, oil channel, lights, tires, bodywork, depletes, brakes, guiding, liquid and coolant levels, suspension and 12V battery.
What happens in a car service?

Change oil. Change oil filter. Check tyre pressures. Check battery level and apply terminal protection.
What happens if you go too long without an oil change?
If you go long enough without an oil change, it could cost you a car. Once the motor oil becomes sludge, it no longer removes heat from the engine. This can lead to a complete engine shutdown that will require a brand new engine – or a new ride
Do you need to change oil every 6 months?
But times have changed, and so have the oil change standards. Now the general recommendation is about every 5,000 miles or 6 months. And it could be up to about every 7,500 miles or every 12 months if your car is new and you don't drive it very hard
Can an MOT tester test at any station?
All MOT tests, retests and contingency tests must be conducted within authorised vehicle testing stations (VTSs) by nominated testers ( NTs ) approved to test the class of vehicle by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency
Who is responsible for updating MOT tester’s details on the MOT testing service?
AEs are responsible for making sure statutory MOT testing is carried out to the required standard and in the manner set out by DVSA at their VTSs. DVSA will monitor the data and characteristics collected from the new service to make sure all MOT tests are conducted from authorised VTSs.
How long can a MOT tester go without testing?
As long as no more than six months have passed since their last test, the tester can start testing again immediately.
