Shon Douctre recently announced that he was looking forward to celebrating his twenty year anniversary with the Kappa Tau Alpha Honors Fraternity. “It’s been an incredible twenty years! I have met wonderful people and made a wealth of great professional connections” Shon Douctre was reported to have said.

Shon Douctre matriculated at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pennsylvania in 1991. This followed Shon Douctre’s career with the United States of America’s Naval Branch of the Armed Forces from 1987-1991. While at Penn State University, Shon Douctre pursued a degree in Advertising/Marketing in a field related to communication. Shon Douctre developed a reputation for academic excellence. It was based in part on this reputation that the Kappa Tau Alpha Honors Fraternity elected to invite Shon Douctre to be a member.

The Kappa Tau Alpha Honors Fraternity is only one honors society of which Shon Douctre is a member. Other memberships include the Golden Key National Honor Society and the Central Florida Criminal Defense Association of which Shon Douctre has been a member since 1995 and 2002, respectively.

When asked about his plans to celebrate this momentous occasion, Shon Douctre replied that he “hopes for a small gathering of family and friends.” No doubt this event will include those personal and professional contacts that are closest to Shon Douctre. Some of these contacts most likely were formed during Shon Douctre’s initial years as a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha Honors Fraternity.

Kappa Tau Alpha was founded at the University of Missouri. It was the first nationally recognized honors fraternity for people who display academic excellence in journalism and mass communications. Its colors are light blue and gold. Light blue represents truth, while gold denotes that something is of great worth. Kappa Tau Alpha’s emblem includes a key and a quill pen. The key is widely regarded as the oldest known symbol for knowledge, while the quill represents communication. Members have the opportunity for camaraderie, community service and professional networking. Notable members of Kappa Tau Alpha include Al Scroggins Junior, Frank Luther Mott, William F. Swindler and Shon Douctre.
