With summer fast approaching, the lack of seasonal employment is likely to inspire panic in you. When coupled up with no solid travel plans, most college students find their hands perspiring. But this does not have to be a hassle, when there is something better in the offing.

As soon as your worries dissipate, you worries dissipate; you will realize that summer volunteering is one of the best alternatives to working for pennies at the local restaurant. Wouldn’t you want to invest in something that is more meaningful and adventurous? Well, there are many summer volunteer programs that are open to college students.

Why SHH?

Students Helping Honduras is one of the organizations offering volunteer abroad programs in Honduras. The country is believed to have the worst epidemic for gangs in the whole world. This is also coupled with high levels of extreme poverty and low access to quality education.

Ready to Learn

Any organization claiming to offer volunteer or humanitarian services should mean it. For instance, SHH has a mission of lessening extreme poverty levels in the country. They are doing that by inviting the international volunteers on a journey that does not just entail development of schools for the children in that nation, but also learning from their challenges.

100% Donations Support Target Programs

The world is full of deceiving elements appearing as genuine organizations seeking help for their local problems. But once they get donations, some of it is transferred to individuals and it ends up not getting to the needs of the underprivileged. This has worked to discourage so many donors and volunteers from offering support.

SHH on their part are responsible for all donations they receive. All donations have been used to construct schools for children. These are projects that donors and volunteers can always visit and see how they are changing the lives of the local communities. Already, many children are getting the chance to access formal and quality education for a better future.

In addition, these projects have offered employment to many individuals. To begin with, the organization has almost 100% of staff from within Honduras. At the moment more than 50 locals are employed, and this number grows each year with every new school that is constructed.

You do not have to think of what to do during your alternative spring break. Choose to volunteer abroad by helping SHH build 1,000 schools for the kids of that country. What’s more is that these programs are open to everyone, including families and professionals. There is a place for everyone to help.
