[LONDON, 16/09/2015] - Sheen Dental Implants, a dental practice in London, provides replacement for a missing tooth or several teeth through a range of dental implants. Under the right conditions, dental implants are considered safe and effective options for tooth replacement.
Sheen Dental Implants performs different implant procedures, depending on the number of missing teeth and the patient’s condition.
Single Tooth Implant
This procedure involves a cleverly-engineered titanium screw implanted into a gap where a tooth has been lost. The dentist will place a temporary restoration to fill the gap as the implant fuses with the bone.
Once the implant has settled, a tooth-coloured crown is fitted on the top, identical to the shape and colour of the neighbouring teeth. Generally, the process does not take longer than any other routine dental procedure.
Multiple Teeth Implant (with Bridge)
If the patient has three or more missing teeth in a row, an implant-retained bridge may be advised by the dentist. In this procedure, the crowns are linked together. Depending on the size of the gap, the bridge is placed on a secure and stable foundation of two or more implants.
The dentist will place a temporary restoration to fill the gap while the implants fuse with the bone. When the implants are firmly rooted, the dentist will fit a tooth-coloured bridge on top, matching the shape and colour of the neighbouring teeth.
Full Set of Teeth
For patients who have no teeth left in the upper or lower jaw, an implant-retained denture or a bridge may be a permanent replacement. In some cases, as few as three implants can serve as a firm base for a full denture. A bridge can be placed on four to six implants.
Depending on the patient’s request, the overdentures/bridges can be made so that they are removable anytime, or attached permanently to the implants.
