Shabina Suhail - The British Born Artist With A Deep-Rooted Passion For Islam

To classify as a real Sufi artist means that need to have a strong belief and trust in Islam, and that your artwork is characterised by the symbols associated with the Sufi order. This is exactly what you can expect from Shabina Gallery in Leicester, UK.

Shabina Suhail is a British born artist and the owner of Shabina Gallery, and she is widely recognised as a deeply religious and spiritual Islamic artist that combines colour variations, applies association and different brush strokes, uses repetition of images, underlying structure, tension, line and rests, as well as pattern formation, perspective, contrast, movement, rhythm and even three-dimensional illusion to create stunning artwork.

Shabina's paintings and artwork are distinguished from others, exclusively by how she expresses and depicts her passions for religion, and the way she draws spiritual inspiration from important historical figures and sacred places such as the Holy Kaaba and other mosques. After all, her love and passion for the arts, as well as religion stem from her childhood when she used to sit in a corner of Peckham Mosque in London, drawing pencil sketches of people that visited the mosque.

Shabina had been intrigued by Sufism and Shayks from the onset of her life, and growing up, she often expressed her thoughts through pencil drawings, which were later approved by some important religious figures, who also encouraged her to follow a career in arts. However, her career as a young adult initially took on a different direction, and it was only in February 2020, that she officially took up painting as a full-time career.

She has been busier than ever creating art and stocking every corner of Shabina Gallery with her beautiful and affordable artistic displays - all of which carries a deep-rooted religious meaning. When interviewed recently about her artistic niche and asked to elaborate on one clear segment of her work, Shabina replied by saying that Sufism plays a significant role in her work.

“Sufi art forms part of a spiritual process that involves a complex ritual of gathering and uniting thoughts, meditation and drawing inspiration for a deep-rooted spirituality. This is duly represented in every Sufi canvas I paint, and you will often find them painted in bright, vivid and energetic colours. It completely depicts my devotion to the Islamic religion, and while I love to create Sufi art, this is not what defines me as an artist. I have a diverse range and offer I diversity through my work, which can be seen on my website,” she said.

What makes Shabina stand out as an artist, is how she manages to capture and express her religion and stun the onlooker with mystical and enchanting images. Her work is as popular in the UK, as it is in the USA and Australia, and can also be shipped to other parts of the world, of which more details are available on her website.
