AKVO - The water treatment specialists based in Chesterfield in the UK recently had their expertise came to the fore at a new customer recently. The site in question had issues with scaling in the steam boilers for several years, with the incumbent water treatment company unable to find the issue that was causing the intermittent problem with the water softening equipment. The fault was causing hard water to enter the system, which was scaling the boilers and resulting in poor heat transfer efficiency and consequently higher fuel bills.

AKVO took over the treatment at the site in July 2013, and they spent several days on site to diagnose the problem, which was traced to the softener internal distribution pipework which was damaged. Owner of AKVO Jonathan Beresford said “The issue was addressed in August 2013 when the softener unit was fitted with new internal pipework and resin. The unit has run faultlessly since, and the customer has engaged us to look after their water management to include boiler water treatment, softener service & maintenance and legionella management”.
