There are many types of window locks to choose from. Some come with a key, some just involve you turning a small latch, or you could even have padlocks installed. At Cleveland Locksmith, we carry many different types and styles of window locks. We would be happy to help find the best lock to suit your family.

The most common lock is a small latch lock. A latch lock is specifically made for a sliding glass window. They are great for windows that you plan on still using, but want to be able to lock when they are closed. We simply install a latch on the outside runner of your window. The simplest ones have an easy latch that simply twists. If you have children, we recommend a latch that you must screw on. These are much harder for children to open.

Another great way to lock your windows is with a keyed lock. With a keyed lock, the lock is screwed into place. These locks cannot be taken off without the appropriate tools. Each lock comes with a small key so you are able to open the window as you please. If you are having multiple keyed window locks installed, we suggest purchasing a model where a universal key is used. This allows you to only have one extra key on your key ring, but can still lock multiple windows in your home or office.

Padlocks for your windows are something that we would not necessarily recommend unless it is absolutely needed. If you feel that your community is unsafe, then we would happily install padlocks for you. We do not usually recommend them because they are very clunky looking and do not go with many decors. You must also have an individual lock for each padlock that is installed. Therefore, you will have to carry around or store multiple keys just to open your windows.
