With an aim to create awareness on the need for type-tested and standardised electrical equipment across the country, Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced the availability of India’s firsttype tested low voltage range of APFC panels - VarSet in Gujarat, Ahmedabad. These APFC panels will be manufactured inSchneider Electric’s high-techmanufacturing facility compliant to ISO 50001 in Bangalore. The

VarSet range will comply with global safety standards like IEC 61921 and IEC 61439-1 & 2. With Ahmedabad being recorded as one of the fastest growing regions in terms of office accommodation and real estate market, demand for electrical equipment are at an all-time high. In such a scenario, it is critical to instil the right awareness amongst builders and contractors on the need for type-tested panels that not only ensure safety, reliability but also longevity and quality.

With the availability, Schneider Electric highlighted the hazardous scenario, due to usage of substandard electrical infrastructure, resulting in huge losses of human life and assets. It also brought into focus the substandard installation practices in the electrical industry. This move is expected to make industrial power supply far more safe and reliable and help get rid of Power Factor penalties leading up to 30% better energy efficiency.

Talking aboutVarSet range of APFC panels, Mr. Revanand Andhale, Regional Sales Head, Ahmedabad, Schneider Electric India said, “Safety and standardisation is the need of the hour for the electrical industry in India. This is not only to become globally competitive in the market but also largely to ensure reliability and sustainability through the products.Schneider Electric has now become the first company to introduce the most comprehensively tested APFC
panels in India which are fully compliant to international safety certifications. VarSet has been specially designed keeping in mind the needs of industries like F&B, pharma, FMCG, auto, IT, marine, cement and mining.”

Generally, APFC panels in India have been designed only on the basis of electrical know how of end user, Consultant or Panel Builder and limited international safety standard was being followed to guide the design of APFC panels. So far, APFC panels were declared type tested only on the basis of tests like S/C, HV test and Insulation resistance test, and the same could not be challenged. However, with advent of Reactors and Thyristor switches in APFC panels, incidents of failure and fire have increased alarmingly necessitating introduction of higher safety standards.

The VarSet range of APFC panels has one of the safest and reliable designs in India. Its superior thermal design enables it to operate even at 50 degrees C
ambient temperature, while its lower operating costs helps in achieving energy efficiency.
