Bhopal 16th June 2017 – A workshop for teachers on the topic ‘Teachers in 21st Century’ was conducted by Dr. Rajesh Sharma on Tuesday, 13th June in the SBBPS premises.
Dr. Sharma a former Principal and a psychologist with an experience of working with the students for 25 years spoke to the teachers about the importance of relationship and human connection. A teacher needs to connect to the students mentally to facilitate learning. Teachers are the role model for their students & portray an image of confidence and accomplishment that fulfills the need of children of a positive role model. Human connection makes the student feel important and helps to deal with their problems. This also helps in motivating them to take interest in their studies. Strong bond of communication between the children & teacher can make learning easier.
A teachers needs to update his/her knowledge because a child of 21st century has access to technology and is much more aware as compared to children of yesteryears.
Teachers at SBBPS provide a structured education & promote child mental health & psychological growth. They help students acquire knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and skills which are needed to make informed decisions in their future. What students learn in their formative years is greatly responsible to shape their future.
Dr. Sharma suggested ways of dealing with different situations in a classroom. He also said that each child is unique & thus it is important to identify their interest and abilities and should be treated accordingly.
Different activities, in which the teachers participated enthusiastically made the workshop interesting.
