DIRECTION61:3 CELEBRATES A $100,000 MATCHING GRANT FROM THE MCKINNEY ROTARY CLUB
Celebrating Progress Towards $8.5 Million “Launch a Legacy” Capital Campaign
McKinney, Texas – September 20, 2024 — Direction61:3 celebrated a key milestone in its “Launch a Legacy” Capital Campaign with a generous $100,000 matching grant from the McKinney Rotary Club. A special check presentation took place on Wednesday, September 4, at 4:00 p.m. on the Direction61:3 main campus, marking a crucial step in the organization's effort to raise $8.5 million for the construction of transitional housing for foster youth aging out of the system.
This generous grant, made possible by the McKinney Rotary Club, provides vital support to the capital campaign to build a community of homes on the Direction61:3 campus. These homes will serve foster youth aged 14 to 24 as they transition to independence, offering a foundation for success, stability, and personal growth.
Brian Loughmiller, former Mayor of McKinney, and his wife Donna are the co-chairs of the capital campaign. Brian shared, "We are profoundly grateful for the unwavering support and faith the Rotary Club of McKinney has placed in Direction61:3 and our mission. This generous matching gift doesn’t just help us build homes—it helps us build futures. The Farm represents a sanctuary for foster youth, a place where they can find stability, hope, and the guidance needed to create their own paths toward independence and a closer relationship with God. The Rotary’s commitment is helping us turn that vision into a reality, and for that, we are deeply appreciative."
The Rotary Club of McKinney has long supported local nonprofits through their Flag Program and Holiday Parade of Lights initiatives. Harold McLeod, President of the Rotary Club of McKinney, shared the club’s pride in contributing to such a significant cause: "The Rotary Club of McKinney is proud to support local nonprofit agencies with proceeds from our flag lease program and Holiday Parade of Lights. Our matching capital grant of $100,000 to Direction61:3 allows our club to make a significant positive impact on the well-being of youth aging out of the foster care system. We look forward to watching Direction61:3 as they bring their vision of expanded services at The Farm to light."
