Rembert, South Carolina - December 5, 2012 - Modern Turf, Inc., the preeminent, South Carolina-based turfgrass production company, announced installation of the Miniverde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass nine-hole golf course at New Madrid Country Club, set in the Mississippi River town of New Madrid, Missouri.

The private, 3,003-yard, par 36 course is the first in the state to feature MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass. “We are excited to have been able to install our renowned product at the half-century old New Madrid golf course, and to introduce this exceptional turf to Missouri golfers,” said Hank Kerfoot, president of Modern Turf.

The MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass produces deep roots and is characterized by fine leaf blades, short internodes and high shoot density. MiniVerde has been the top-rated Bermudagrass in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP) trials for the past several years.

Said Kerfoot, “When we install new turf, we factor in as many elements as possible, from the average daily temperature, to the average rainfall, and from the course’s slope rating, to the course’s age. For environmental reasons, New Madrid’s proximity to the Mississippi River needed to be taken into consideration. The MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermudagrass requires less chemicals and fungicide treatments, so it really is the ideal turf.” He added, “With this project, we also needed to consider New Madrid’s climate. This is an area that has registered some of the hottest summers in the state. Our Ultradwarf grass is well suited for New Madrid’s fluctuating climate and its unique topography.”
