Columbus, Ohio: According to UN Refugees, over 80% of Somali refugees live in other countries. After the country’s powerful refugee crisis, many locals have been displaced from their homes, and the US has also opened its arms to Somali refugees and their families. Resettlement assistance organizations like the Somali Community Link (SCL) play a vital role in helping refugees adjust to a new environment and society.
Somali refugees find it very difficult to find adequate and rewarding housing, employment, food, and case management assistance in the US. The rising number of people migrating from Somalia has also posed significant challenges like crowding, resettlement paperwork delays, etc.

Somali Community Link has also been launching great initiatives for the Somali youth to help them integrate into the American workforce and education systems. The organization has successfully provided rental housing assistance to over 3,500 Somali families and has tutored over 2,800 immigrant children in Ohio.

In partnership with the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation (COWIC) and the Ohio Department of Education, this program provides Somali teens with a platform to build their professional careers.
