For many people, reaching retirement is a timely and costly journey. Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves appointed Senator Doty to serve as the Governor’s liaison to the Mississippi Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS), which provides a wealth of benefits to public employees.

PERS provides retirement benefits to people who were employed by the Mississippi state government, the Legislature, counties, municipalities, public schools, community colleges, universities, highway patrol, and other public officials. PERS covers a wide array of jobs and occupations and provides support for hundreds of people. Upon her appointment, Sally Doty said, “I appreciate the trust that the Lieutenant Governor has placed in me with this appointment,” she went on to say, “my father is a PERS member, and I believe that all public employees – past, present, and future – deserve a secure retirement.” As the senator of District 39, Doty is dedicated to working with PERS in order to ensure that public employees are able to access the benefits they deserve.

As Senator and the liaison with PERS, Sally Doty has a great plan for providing the retirement community with secure retirement plans. She stated that a secure retirement “begins with keeping pension promises that have already been made,” and that “going forward, we must offer retirement security while protecting taxpayers and important public services.” Senator Doty is dedicated to every person she represents. She has a personal connection to PERS and wants to help keep the retired community in Mississippi secure, while helping to bolster the rest of the working community.
