The administration of the U.S President says in a statement on Wednesday that he is cutting $200 million in the federal healthcare funding to California. That state needs insurance providers to cover the abortions. Whereas, The U.S Department of Health and Human Service said that it will; refuse to give the funding for medical aid in the new fiscal quarter that is starting in January and “if the states do not overcome the consequences than” the department will move forward to cut an additional $200 million per fiscal quarter. They have warned California earlier that this year could be a loss of federal funding over the 2014 regulation decreeing that workers and private insurance plans pay to end the pregnancy.
The Department of Health and Human Services has resolute that the state was violating federal anti-discrimination law is also known as the Weldon Amendment that looks after the insurers from being forced to supply abortion coverage. The HHS secretary also said that California had violated federal conscience laws and has declined to take remedial action. ”so, they are taking an action in keeping them on hold” he said. Whereas, a division of the HHS department, the office of civil rights has begun the initial inspected California based on complaints filed by catholic order of religious sisters and non-profit Christian church by materializing that ”funding for voluntary abortion protection for themselves and their colleagues”
After stating this, one of the members of the office of civil rights has said “whatever one thinks of the legality of abortion, no individual should be paying any penalty for declining to pay for or help out in taking of human life”. The inward-bound coming administration of president election might reverse the decision as he has nominated California’s attorney general, a supporter of abortion rights to head the Health and Human Service agency.
The office of Gov. Gavin News on disapproves of the move as a challenge by saying in an emailed comment Wednesday it “will continue to stand up for women health and will push back against this tremendous presidential overreach”
