She stated that she was reared in a pro-choice household, but the stigma around abortion and teen pregnancy made her fearful that she would not be supported. As a result, she had to go through the abortion process on her own.

There are young women who become pregnant unexpectedly and have the ability and desire to raise children, according to Jeyifo. Now that she is a mother, she sees even more clearly what she observed before: how difficult it is to choose to be a teenage mother due to a lack of support services.

"When I look at my life and my children, I feel such relief that I was able to obtain that abortion since my life would look so different now," Jeyifo said.

Kenya Martin now refers to her 21-year-old daughter as her "broken best friend" and believes she is amazing, but she also admits to her adult kid that there was a moment when she really contemplated terminating the pregnancy. "Having access to abortion allowed me to be a better parent," Martin explained. "When it's time for her to feel comfortable in making these significant life decisions, she may do so without feeling compelled." She understands that she will be supported in her decision."

Martin was in university and had only recently begun dating when she became pregnant with her daughter. When it came to deciding whether to continue with the pregnancy, she turned to her parents for advice.

Having kids was in her future plans, but she was concerned that she did not know the guy she would be raising a kid with well enough, and that having to drop out of university to have the baby would not be the most financially stable moment in her life. "Motherhood was pretty dismal at first," Martin said. "I didn't truly appreciate parenthood until she was much older."

Martin was soon abused by her daughter's father, she said.
Martin stated that when she fell pregnant again, she realized she needed to leave the father and terminate the pregnancy in order to be the sort of mother her daughter deserved.

Martin eventually returned to school and began working as a counselor at an abortion clinic. Martin explained that she was able to assist women to go through their alternatives and empower them to realize that whichever route they choose is their decision.
