It is the case bought up by the Center for Reproductive Rights on behalf of Jackson Women’s Health Organization. The last provision of abortion in Mississippi challenges the deliberately unconstitutional ban on abortion over the 15 weeks of gestation. The Multiple groups of abortions are serving as pro-bono counsel. Concerning, the brief corrects the misconception about abortion and includes first-hand accounts from the trained, expert health care professional who provides abortion, including the medical students and administrators are upset on banning and putting a restriction on abortions across the country, including today Texas. The brief was filed on the 20th day that Texas’s S.B.8- the radical” sue thy neighbor” law that has made abortion virtually inaccessible in the state where it has been affected, everyone. Below are the briefs from the health care providers –
Bhavik Kumar, M.D, MPH., Texas; Planned Parenthood provider –
“When Texas banned abortion in the spring of 2020, our clinic was forced to shut down continuously in four different times by claiming abortion was a non-essential service. At the same time, at present numerous patients were waiting at our clinic to whom we have turned away twice because of court orders that were issued. There was a patient who has travel so far in the pandemic to our clinic and we provided access to the care right here.”
Amy Hagstrom Miller, Texas, Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, and Minnesota; President of Whole Woman’s Health and Whole Woman’s Health Alliance–
“In some states, the government was imposing barriers and was making it extremely difficult for the woman to access abortion. However, people obtaining abortions in this country day and night was depending on where they live, even after getting the same procedure and service everywhere. In some states, Medicaid and private insurance do not cover abortion, where still the patients were managing to visit the abortion facility.
Ghazaleh Moayedi, D.O., M.P.H., Texas, and Oklahoma; Physicians for Reproductive Health board member–
“The biggest problem is a lack of access to abortion clinics. In Texas, there are far more places than where people deceive how far they are and what option can make it easy for them to reach the faculty to provide abortion care center.
Jessica Mecklosky, medical student, Medical Student for Choice board of directors –
“There is a patient who desperately needs accurate information about their reproductive health, which begins from sex education to abortion counseling. The research concludes that they aren’t getting enough knowledge.
Mugdha Mokashi, medical student, past president of Medical Students for Choice board of directors –
“Banning abortion concludes to where it completely matters where someone resides and their ability to live their lives on their own terms, which is an inequality in our society.”
