Sadda Pind Amritsar – Experience the Life in a Punjabi Village

Sadda Pind is a Punjabi village resort in the holy city of Amritsar, and the project was initiated by the Punjab Heritage and Promotion Board (PHPB). Sadda Pind is located at the Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) campus.

 
Amritsar, November 17, 2016: The heritage village, Sadda Pind, is constructed on 12 acres of land in GNDU campus. Both tourists and natives can cherish the atmosphere of a traditional Punjabi village by visiting here. This village consists of shops, farmhouses, and guest rooms. This heritage village is within the vicinity of Golden Temple, just 8 kms away. Both central and state governments funded the project for completion. The people who worked on this project have 29 years experience in the hospitality field. They have redefined the perception of hospitality and entertainment by providing world-class customer service.

Developed on the Grand Trunk Road in the outskirts of Amritsar, Sadda Pind offers Punjab’s village culture and environment to the tourists. Tourists can acquire knowledge about the culture, surroundings, outfits, community, and traditions of Punjabis. Foreign and Indian tourists can experience the traditional Punjabi rural lifestyle with all its grandeur. The young generation of Punjab also can understand the traditions and ambience of a Punjabi village. The ambience of this heritage village helps the young generation to appreciate the values of their ancestors. Visitors can identify the daily household chores happening in an ordinary Punjabi family. The tourists can see the lane of traditional houses, daak ghar (post-office), baraat ghar (community hall), chaupal (community area), akhaara (wrestling ring), and much more. The tourists can treasure the Punjab of 1950’s by visiting Sadda Pind.

The artisans in the village allow tourists to try out the traditional art. The visitors can create a masterpiece of any of the artwork showcased here on their own. Some of the artworks showcased in this village resort are clay toys, ironwork, durries, Punjabi juttis, Phulkaris, clay utensils, shawls, pottery, and agricultural equipment. Village fair can be seen in progress in this heritage village with dance and music. Punjab is not complete with its folk dances and music. Tourists can have fun by dancing to the beats of Punjab’s vibrant dances such as kikli, jhumar, gidha, and bhangra.

Last but not the least, visiting the village of Punjab will never be completed without tasting the authentic Punjabi cuisine. The restaurant at Sadda Pind offers great varieties of Punjabi dishes.
