Staten Island, New York (March 4, 2025) – Monsignor Farrell High School proudly unveiled its state-of-the-art JAG Physical Therapy Athletic Training Center, a testament to the enduring bond between the school and its distinguished alumnus, John Gallucci Jr., Class of 1985. As the President and CEO of JAG Physical Therapy, Gallucci’s generous contribution has endowed the Staten Island institution with a premier facility dedicated to the health and performance of its student-athletes.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on March 3rd at 11 AM, was a celebration of this transformative addition to the school’s athletic program and marked the beginning of National Athletic Training Month, championing the health care work that trainers provide for athletes. While this event officially marked the opening of the facility, the JAG Physical Therapy Athletic Training Center has already been serving Monsignor Farrell’s student-athletes, providing them with top-tier care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation services. Over the past months, the center has become an integral part of the school’s commitment to student wellness, ensuring that Farrell’s athletes can train, compete, and recover with the highest level of support and expertise.
Monsignor Farrell President Lou Tobacco, Class of 1990, expressed his deep appreciation for Gallucci’s generosity and dedication to the school’s mission:
“John Gallucci embodies everything that it means to be a Vir Fidelis – a faithful man. His generosity and commitment to Monsignor Farrell will have a lasting impact on generations of Lions. Thanks to John and JAG Physical Therapy, our student-athletes now have access to a world-class training facility right here on campus, ensuring they receive the best care possible. We are truly grateful for this incredible gift.”
Gallucci, reflecting on his connection to Monsignor Farrell and his motivation for giving back, shared:
“As a proud graduate of Monsignor Farrell High School, it is an incredible honor to give back to the place that helped shape me into the person I am today. The JAG Physical Therapy Athletic Training Center represents a commitment to the health, safety, and success of every student-athlete who walks through these doors. I am thrilled to see Farrell’s athletes benefit from top-tier care, and I look forward to watching them thrive on and off the field.”
Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella, a Monsignor Farrell graduate from the Class of 1983, introduced Gallucci at the event and spoke about the importance of virtue and philanthropy in Farrell’s legacy:
“The true measure of a man is not just in his achievements, but in how he gives back. John Gallucci’s generosity is a shining example of the values instilled at Monsignor Farrell—faith, leadership, and service to others. This facility will not only support our student-athletes but will stand as a testament to the Farrell brotherhood, where success is shared, and giving back is a way of life.”
Sophomore Angelo Stallone, captain of Farrell's junior varsity football team, spoke about the impact the JAG Physical Therapy Athletic Training Center has already had on Farrell’s athletes:
“Having a facility like this on campus is a game-changer for us. Our athletic trainer is always here to help with recovery, and it gives us peace of mind knowing we have the best care available. It’s helped me stay healthy and get stronger throughout the season. We are really lucky to have this resource and grateful to Mr. Gallucci and everyone who made it possible.”
A Cutting-Edge Training Program
The JAG Physical Therapy Athletic Training Center ensures that student-athletes have direct access to a certified athletic trainer specializing in injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation. Having a dedicated full-time athletic trainer on campus allows for immediate care and personalized recovery plans, helping athletes stay in peak condition while minimizing the risk of injuries.
Tony Garofalo, Class of 1989 and Monsignor Farrell’s Director of Athletics lauded the facility as “one of the premier high school training centers in the region,” emphasizing that it will play a crucial role in keeping athletes healthy and performing at their best.
A Legacy of Excellence and Giving Back
John Gallucci Jr.’s journey from Monsignor Farrell student to a leader in physical therapy is both inspiring and commendable. After graduating from Farrell, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the College of Staten Island, followed by a master’s degree in sports medicine and athletic training from Long Island University. Furthering his expertise, Gallucci obtained a second master’s and a clinical doctorate in physical therapy from Dominican University.
His professional career includes serving as the head trainer for the New York Red Bulls Major League Soccer team and currently as the Assistant Chief Medical Officer for Major League Soccer, making a significant impact on athletic communities at both local and national levels.
Reflecting on his time at Monsignor Farrell, Gallucci has credited the school for instilling in him the values that have shaped his life and career. His commitment to giving back is evident in his long-standing support of Farrell’s wrestling program, where he has played a pivotal role in its success.
A Lasting Impact
The opening of the JAG Physical Therapy Athletic Training Center is a significant step forward in Farrell’s ongoing commitment to providing its student-athletes with the best possible resources. Thanks to John Gallucci Jr. and JAG Physical Therapy, Farrell athletes will now have access to exceptional sports medicine services, ensuring they can compete at the highest levels while prioritizing their health and well-being.
This facility stands as a testament to the power of giving back and the enduring impact of a Farrell education.
