Sonal Holland MW, the only Master of Wine India can boast of, held her very own India Wine Awards in Mumbai, which culminated in a glittering awards night on 29th September at The Leela Mumbai. Among the many firsts was that 353 wines, Indian and imported, were entered in the competition…a first for India. Two days of tasting and analysing by a high-powered jury saw some very heartening results, including a very interesting Food and Wine pairing section, where a record number of wines were paired with iconic Indian dishes, and the best pairing were given prizes.

Ruma Singh, an expert on wine besides a leading journalist, was present throughout as well as invited to be on the jury as an expert. She has blogged her first article in a series on this path-breaking event in the Indian wine industry. A must red for wine lovers, new wine enthusiasts and those seeking to identify the best wines available in India. The experts have done the job for you!
