As seller impersonation fraud continues to rise, title companies are leveraging AI-powered email security solutions to stay ahead of cybercriminals. Houghton, Mich.-based Transnation Title Agency recently used RPost’s RMail platform to detect and stop a fraudulent property sale just hours before closing. Despite the criminal’s sophisticated use of generative AI, voice-replication tools, and fake notarizations, RMail flagged an anomaly when the seller accessed critical emails from Lagos, Nigeria—a known fraud hotspot.

RMail’s advanced AI analyzed data points such as location, network activity, and risk factors in real-time, triggering an alert that prompted Transnation to verify the seller’s identity. Upon investigation, the documents were confirmed as fraudulent by the U.S. Embassy in Dublin. The fraud attempt was reported to the FBI, saving the buyer from significant financial loss. This case highlights the importance of deploying AI-infused tools like RMail to mitigate risks and protect buyers in high-stakes transactions.
