Ammo Skills and Types

Alongside the Crossbows, Path of Exile 2 introduces various Ammo Skills that enhance the versatility of your attacks. Ammo types can be toggled to apply different effects to your shots:

Armour Piercing Ammo: Allows your shots to penetrate through enemies, making it easier to hit multiple targets.
Incendiary Ammo: Ignites enemies, adding a burn effect and synergizing with other explosive skills.
Permafrost Ammo: Chills and freezes enemies, useful for crowd control and slowing down dangerous foes.

These Ammo Skills can be combined with Crossbow firing skills to create powerful and diverse attack strategies. For example, using Incendiary Burst Shot can clear groups of enemies by setting them on fire, while Permafrost Power Shot can slow down and incapacitate larger enemies.
Attachments: Expanding Your Arsenal

Attachments are a new feature in Path of Exile 2, slotting into the offhand slot like Quivers for Bow users. These are unique Skill Gems available exclusively to Crossbow users. They do not provide additional stats but grant extra Skill Slots, enhancing the Mercenary’s ability to use various skills.
