Roy Pomerantz Celebrates Juggling Success

Posted November 8, 2016 by roypomerantz

Roy Pomerantz, above all else, is a committed juggler.

People know Roy Pomerantz for a number of different achievements. He studied at Columbia University and Harvard Law School, leading to fruitful careers in both business and law. Currently, he is the CEO of both Pet King and Baby King, which manufacture pet and baby products. However, if you were to ask Roy Pomerantz about his passions, he will never hesitate bringing up his professional juggling career, which has enriched his life and emboldened Pomerantz from day one.

From a young age Pomerantz loved to juggle. He picked up Carlo’s The Juggling Book in a toy store and the rest is history. He is mainly self-taught, not hooking up with juggling friends and coaches until much later. His mother is a magician, which Pomerantz thinks subliminally inspired him to be an entertainer. Admittedly, he enjoys being at the center of attention and curating his acts to elicit the maximum emotional response from lookers-on.

While earning his degree at Columbia, Pomerantz received one of the most important calls of his life from Mr. Ron Severini, the Dean of Barnum and Bailey Clown College. Roy Pomerantz was accepted into Clown College after completing an extensive application and making it through multiple, grueling audition rounds. Only fifty performers are selected out of 5,000 applicants. The days following the call were some of Pomerantz’ hardest and most profound. He seriously contemplated his life’s trajectory. Ultimately, he decided to continue on at Columbia.

Even though he never graduated from the Clown College, Pomerantz still worked as a professional juggler for decades. In his twenties and thirties, a number of his outstanding performances garnered national recognition. He appeared on Good Morning America and CBS Nightly News, showcasing his talent to millions of viewers. Pomerantz has also been featured by the New York Times. It was a dream come true for Pomerantz to not only make a little money juggling, but also to use his gift to inspire and benefit others, which is why he still performs at charity events to this day.
