Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) confirmed that they deem that, in general, the package of offers on PPI complaint laid out in their consultation must be taken ahead.
The package included imposing a time bar for new PPI complaints and initiating an ad campaign to spread awareness regarding PPI issues and its deadline. FCA has also set certain rules and guidance on how to handle the complaints in the light of Plevin.
Concerned about the handling of complaints regarding PPI, FCA has altered the proposed rules and guidance. These changes relate in particular to 3 key factors that is- to incorporate profit share in the approach towards assessment of redress and fairness; to permit previous refunds to customers when they annulled their PPI policy; to elucidate how a firm must assess redress and fairness.
According to a Spokesperson, “Imposing a time bar on PPI complaints would certainly bring the problem to an end, in such a way that it shields both market integrity as well as consumers.”
He further added, “After listening to all the feedbacks received, FCA deems that the steps taken up by them are right and they’d make sure that their ad campaign would connect with everyone who has been affected, especially the susceptible ones.”
