The builder enables admins to create customized in-app notifications for the targeted audience. You can define when the notification triggers, which users will be notified and what will be displayed in the notification.

Have you wished your communication within your organization was much easier? Want to receive notifications of only important updates? Do the updates you receive not require attention?
Well Worry no more! Salesforce has the perfect solution for you called “Notification Builder” which was released Summer of 2019.
The builder enables admins to create customized in-app notifications for the targeted audience. You can define when the notification triggers, which users will be notified and what will be displayed in the notification. This can be done in very simple steps with salesforce.
How to create a Notification in a Salesforce Notification Builder;
1. Step 1 -
Create Notification Type: Go to Setup → Notification Builder → Notification Types. Create a new Notification type. You can choose the notification to support both Desktop and mobile.
2. Step 2 -
Create a Process and define entry object: Go to Setup → Process Builder and create a new process. You can define the entry event on a standard or custom object and choose when the process should lookup this object.
3. Step 3 -
Create a trigger condition: Next step is to define the trigger for notification. You can define a condition for field values on the object or when a formula evaluates to a certain value. Alternatively, you can simply have the notifications triggered on object creation/update without any criteria.
4. Step 4 -
Design the Notification: Now that we have defined the trigger point, it’s time to shoot. But before that, you must define what your notification would tell and more importantly who to send the notification to. To answer the latter point, select Add Actions | Action Type | Send Custom Notification.
Congratulations your customized notification is ready to use and can be further customized according to your requirements. These notifications, appear on desktop, mobile and anywhere else you program or set the settings to.
You can also create custom notifications to provide users with new information and reminders or replace a standard notification. Following are the modules that can be customized through the “Notification Builder”;
1. Send Custom Notifications
You can build a notification for a workflow built entirely with custom objects. You can replace a standard notification with a custom notification to include a message and recipients tailored to your needs.
2. Notification Delivery Settings
The delivery channels for custom types can be edited for supported Salesforce-provided apps and apps installed from a managed package.
3. Consideration for Notification Builder
Before you begin managing your desktop and mobile notifications, learn about the considerations specific to custom notifications and notification delivery settings.
