Creative Hacks to Utilize Freeze-Dried Fruits for your Regular Breakfast Regime

Our nut family enjoys freeze-dried fruits straight from the packet, but did you know there are a variety of additional ways to eat them?

We compiled a list of inventive ways to incorporate freeze-dried fruit into baked products, smoothies, and more!

Pancakes
Every morning, we could have airy pancakes with fruit in the mix! Because freeze-dried fruits have such a long shelf life, you can always keep them on hand to sprinkle into your pancake mix. They give the dish a unique texture as well as a delightful fruity flavor. We prefer to make them using freeze-dried strawberries, as in this delicious strawberry shortcake pancake recipe!

Muffins
Because fresh blueberries aren't always available, have freeze-dried fruits like blueberries on hand for creating muffins. They're high in antioxidants and will give your muffins and baked products a wonderful blast of blueberry flavor.

Because freeze-dried fruit absorbs moisture, make sure to add at least 14 cups of extra water or liquid to your recipe when baking with it. While baking in the oven, make sure the freeze-dried fruits do not touch the pan, as this can cause it to turn. The fruit should be evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Decorations and Frosting
Have you ever considered crushing your favorite freeze-dried fruits and sprinkling them on baked goods as a topping? Fill a Ziploc bag halfway with freeze-dried fruit and gently crush it into a fine powder.

For a beautiful visual appeal and fruity sweetness, sprinkle this powder over cookies and cupcake frosting. It's a healthy, natural alternative to sprinkles. For a unique tropical twist, flavor conventional vanilla frosting with crushed freeze-dried mango.

Smoothies
Consider mixing in some freeze-dried fruits the next time you make a fruit smoothie with fresh or frozen fruits. You can either add the pieces intact or crush them for a smoother combination. A little handful of freeze-dried fruits like elderberries, or some freeze-dried fruit cocktail, can substantially improve the antioxidant value of your smoothie.

Yogurt
The idea of a yogurt parfait piled with granola and fruit makes us lick our lips. However, it is not always possible to use fresh fruit. Add freeze-dried fruits like raspberries, blackberries, cherries, and crisp granola to your favorite Greek yogurt the next time you eat it. You're in for a fantastic treat, we promise!
