Georgetown marijuana dispensaries meeting new regulations in 2022.

Colorado is one of the many states in the United States that has legalized cannabis use for recreational and medical purposes. The demand for marijuana dispensaries is constantly on the rise in Georgetown, The Colorado Legislative Session in 2021 included a number of changes to the cannabis laws in the state.

The first change was the regulation of marijuana concentrates, which started on January 1, 2022. This was for both medical and recreational marijuana dispensaries, which limits the selling only eight grams of concentrate to a customer per day. Customers must be over the age of twenty one to buy recreational cannabis in Colorado. For medical marijuana to patients eighteen to twenty, the limit was set down to two grams daily, unless the doctor has recommended otherwise.

In addition to this, from January 1, 2022, all Colorado dispensaries must hand out a customer educational leaflet. This applies to both medical and recreational dispensaries, including Georgetown marijuana dispensaries. This must be given to ever person that purchases marijuana concentrates and must include information on recommended serving sizes, consumption risk precautions and criminal penalties associated with diversion of cannabis products.

For Georgetown marijuana dispensaries there were also new packaging and labeling regulations regarding concentrates that needed to be adhered to. The state is working on promulgating new statutory and regulatory requirements for the packaging and labeling of marijuana concentrates for medical and retail use, with changes taking effect this year. Further, Georgetown marijuana dispensaries need to check patients forms from their doctor should a patient try and purchase more than the statutory limit.

Nate Balducci, the Marketing Director at Rocky Mountain Cannabis, said “There were also laws that were introduced regarding the outdoor cultivation of cannabis, which means cultivators may take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of crop loss in the case of severe weather events. This will not be a violation of state law, as long as the business can show the action was necessary and reasonable. This means that after January 1, 2022, outdoor cultivators could file a contingency plan with the state detailing actions they would take in the event of adverse weather, which could be hail, wind, excessive moisture, fire, flood, tornado, drought or earthquake.”
