The family members and friends of the generous young man Audai Shakour decided to start a foundation in his name when Audai passed away after an accident. Today, the foundation is helping thousands of destitute around the globe to have a better life.
Audai Shakour was a kind man. He was kind right from the day he started to understand things and learned to observe the world around him. So, when a fatal accident took his life, his friends and family could do only one thing to keep his legacy alive, i.e., doing something for the good of the world.
When asked what compelled Audai’s near and dear ones to start the Audai Shakour Foundation, his father Isam Shakour said, “Audai cared about the less privileged from a very young age. This characteristic of his never changed. So, post his demise, when I found a card featuring St. Ignatius Loyola’s prayer of generosity in his wallet, I knew the only way we can make his soul alive is by being generous to others. So, we were quick to set up the foundation in his name.”
The Foundation Follows Audai’s Footsteps
Audai Foundation has designed its programs to give a better life to people in need. That was Audai Shakour’s ultimate dream. The man had a healthy lifestyle. He played multiple sports (he even joined a few local sports teams to remain active) and went for a run almost every day. However, unlike other men of his age, he was equally careful about others’ needs. He extended his helping hand to people in the United States as well as many living in faraway countries.
He helped a bright Sri Lankan student to complete his degree in medicine. It’s because of him that a poor single mother now lives safely and peacefully in a house of her own. His generosity even reached Sudan, where orphan children received expenses for their meals from Audai. Other than all these, he used to provide weekly meals to the homeless in Los Angeles.
Following Audai’s footsteps, every program of the foundation promises to have a positive impact on the lives of people around the globe. A spokesperson of the foundation said, “For us, the entire world is a family. So, we never discriminate when helping people.”
About the Programs
Right now, the foundation, which is fondly called the Uday Charity, has two active programs. The first one pledges to provide clean drinking water and seamless irrigation in regions fighting excessively dry climates. Similar facilities are also provided to various impoverished communities in different parts of the world.
The other one is a vast social welfare program. It comes up with projects to give a better life to the disadvantaged communities. From time to time, the foundation provides clothes, food, healthcare, educational services, and more to these communities. Additionally, it also bears the expenses for animal care and home development when required.
Individuals interested in donating can opt for in-kind donations as the foundation doesn’t accept monetary donations. Donors receive details of the foundation’s activities once every quarter.
