In recent developments of Malta’s resurgent developmental programme, Prime Minister Muscat’s Chief of staff Keith Schembri has slammed the journalist Daphne Galizia and Opposition leader Dr. Busuttil for catering false allegations against him regarding a certain Panama-named company under his ownership. He said that despite the onslaught of false pretence and made-up accusations, Busuttil lacks the proper portfolio to run his party into a flow of immediate success. The Opposition leader is running an indirect course of chaos and his party are certainly going to drag along and engulf into its dark folds, since after Schembri clears his name, Busuttil’s credibility will run down the drain.
In a statement received through the Department of Information, Keith Schembri states his familiarity with Busuttil’s and Galizia’s plans to try and outdate the Chief’s reputation in various attempts to divert attention from adamant disarray currently being faced by a helpless Nationalist Party. Schembri said that since his ‘opponents’ made the said allegations regarding a fabricated siphoning of millions of dollars through Azerbaijan sources, no solid proof has been substantiated to lawfully condemn his actions. He also said that Daphne Caruana Galizia didn’t do anything with regards to tentative libel proceedings instituted officially by the Chief of Staff; well, if Busuttil and Galizia actually believe in what they know, then maybe they shouldn’t have waved off the level of urgency regarding the proceedings.
Schembri also responded to an apparent emergency liquidation of his alleged company, saying that the blogger is wasting time of the people of Malta and such allegations will not bother the new government from proceeding with the reforms it intends to invigorate Malta with. He strongly denied any allegations regarding any secretive transactions being made under his name, which would be to avoid foreign taxation and a dangerous breach of insider-trading. Schembri knows and can differentiate between right wrong; there are companies associated to Schembri’s name, although the Chief of Staff has nothing to hide when it comes to positive tax returns and clean financial statements.
On one end of the rope, Mizzi is also being targeted by various elements of the press. Schembri apparently holds the other end of the rope and the two officials are being cornered by the Opposition in attempts to secure probable seats in the next elections. However the schematics applied by Busuttil hold no logical precedent thereby which a counter-remedy could be sought. Times in Malta are changing and the new government is doing everything within its reach to help invigorate the corporate and industrial status of Malta. Instead of pouring salt on imaginary wounds, Busittil and Galizia are both in dire need of a hard slap of reality.
