However, as the sources of natural gypsum are depleting from the country; it is largely dependent on the import of gypsum form neighboring countries and production of artificial gypsum. The government is also backing the industry by allowing up to 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in gypsum products industry of the country. To match with the growing demand, Indian cement makers are now looking for acquisitions of overseas gypsum mines as a valuable option and increasing the production of synthetic gypsum.
