TORONTO, January 20, 2014/- Toronto’s Centennial College is the only post-secondary institution in the province of Ontario that facilitates a Bachelor degree in Applied Information Sciences – Computer and Communication Networks.
The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities chose the college to meet the demand for networking professionals with computer networking training that will allow them to fill roles as network or security analysts, IT project managers, project managers, technical or business account managers and network administrator or support.
Completed in four years, this offering’s focus is on providing students with a theoretical base in both business and technology that is supplemented by practical application. Among specific topics covered are: software development programming fundamentals, networking operating systems, database design and modeling, principles of computer and network security, database driven web applications, voice systems and services, system analysis and design and many others. Students have the option to specialize in network security or wireless systems.
All of the learning in this program is completed in labs that are designed to complement the curriculum and include VoIP, cellular networks, wireless broadband (WiMax), advanced routing and switching as well as network management.
To ensure students are not just knowledgeable but comfortable with the skills they have gained in each computer and business communication course, they have the opportunity to experience the field prior to graduation. During the summer between the second and third semester, students partake in a co-op work term that sees them working alongside professionals.
