Reliance Jio provides high-speed 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology for data and voice services. It will make use of the latest technology to deploy its services. The company will only offer 4G services across the country, during its full-scale rollout.

Reliance Jio holds spectrum in the bands of 2300 MHz in all the 22 circles of the country and 1800 MHz in 6 regions. It also holds spectrum in 800 MHz band in 10 areas. Besides, the company has also inked a spectrum sharing deal with Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications for access in other regions of 800 MHz band. Reliance Jio has made an investment of INR 34,000 crores.

Reliance Jio has the maximum spectrum bank across India, giving it a distinctive edge over all other service providers. Reliance Jio will deploy its services through its LTE network. It will make use of Voice over LTE technology, allowing calls to be shifted to LTE at places where the network is low. This technology will help the company to offer high quality and higher speeds to its users.

Reliance Jio Strategy

Reliance Jio is preparing a device ecosystem. It has partnered with a number of mobile phone manufacturers. Intex and Huawei have already joined hands with the company to sell Reliance Jio devices.

Reliance Jio will also be offering a number of application based services. It has rolled out its messaging application, 'Jio Chat,' which lets users interact through voice, chat, video, file sharing, photo sharing, and conferences. The company said that around 10 lakh users already use its application.

Reliance Industries’ President (technology),Jyotindra Thacker had said, “Devices will be at affordable prices. We did not want to just create a dump pipe for others to ride on it. We wanted to basically create some intelligence into the network, and apps and an economy around it. Apps and bandwidth typically go together and that’s when it becomes a viable proposition for the end user also.”

Reliance Jio's high speed data will be pricing its data services, digital commerce, media and payment services between INR 300 and INR 500 per month. The company has already established over 2.5 lakh kilometers of fiber-optic cables, covering 18,000 cities and more than a lakh villages. The company claims to offer end-to-end services to more than 100 million wireless broadband subscribers and 2 crore Fiber-to-Home users.

Brokerage companyCredit Suisse conducted speed tests of Reliance Jio's network. The results revealed a speed between 15 Mbps and 30 Mbps on most occasions. It also showed a peak speed of 70 Mbps.
