Sentinel Property Group, an industry leader in property investments in Australia, acquires 50 percent of The Rocket’s stake, closing a deal deemed as the largest ever in Gold Coast.

[Brisbane, December 8, 2015] – Sentinel Property Group, Australia’s industry-leading property investment firm focused on commercial property market investments, has been involved in Gold Coast City’s largest single-title office tower transaction in eight years. The firm has acquired half the stake of The Rocket by participating in a 70 million dollar deal with CBDRobina.

The deal is Sentinel Property Group's first Gold Coast acquisition, and one of the group’s largest by value. Managing Director Warren Ebert conducted due diligence on the tower before the purchase. Other than the Robina Group, marketing agents Mark Witheriff and Tania Moore from Knight Frank were also involved in the sale negotiations. This settlement of The Rocket results in joint venture purchasers Sentinel Property Group and Clarence Property Group holding 50 percent stakes each in the landmark asset.

The Rocket is Robina’s first commercial tower and is considered as the city’s premier corporate address. Architecture firm Woods Bagot designed the Robina Group developed property. It is the newest of only four A-grade office buildings in the Gold Coast. The building also comprises a two-level retail and commercial annex as well as 420 car parks. It is the city’s second-largest commercial site after Surfers Paradise office.

The structure is located at the geographical centre of Gold Coast City, making it possible for businesses to draw on a catchment area of more than 2 million people between Byron Bay and Brisbane. As of August 2015, The Rocket was 92 percent occupied with tenants such as GHD, Auswide Bank, Aitken Legal, Slater & Gordon Lawyers, and WMS Solution.

“The area is Gold Coast City’s – and indeed one of the nation’s – best performing commercial markets”, Robina Group director, Tony Tippett says.

Market Expansion

With a growing investor base in the Gold Coast, Sentinel had been searching to secure properties in the city by observing a number of properties in the past years. Self-managed super funds property investors can take advantage of the firm’s dedication on investment opportunities in vast areas of the country’s commercial property market.

“We have identified the Gold Coast as a key market where we want a strong presence in order to benefit from its future growth, which is already on show in the new wave of tourism, infrastructure and high-end residential and hotel developments underway,” The Urban Developer quoted Mr Ebert.
