Aldehyde disinfectant is a kind of high-efficiency disinfectant, it can kill bacteria relies on its alkylation reaction to bacterial protein and nucleic acid. It has the advantages of broad-spectrum and high-efficiency.

Commonly used aldehyde disinfectants include glutaraldehyde, formaldehyde, glyoxal and so on.

Glutaraldehyde is a high-efficiency disinfectant for virus. It is non-corrosive to rubber, plastic, metal instruments, etc. It is suitable for the disinfection of precision instruments and endoscopes. The usual concentration is 2%.

Formaldehyde is mainly used for the disinfection of HEPA filters. In addition, when formaldehyde become gaseous with the volatile characteristics at room temperature, its chemical properties are extremely active, which will promote a wider sterilization spectrum and a stronger sterilization effect. So it is mostly used for disinfection of livestock and poultry environments.

It will has better effect when using formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde at room temperature above 20 degrees and relative humidity above 80%.
