SAF Volunteer Corps Continues Recruitment of Volunteers for Various Roles

The Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps continues its call for volunteers. Depending on the volunteer’s qualifications, those who sign up can choose to serve in nine categories across three services – army, air force and navy.

 
[Singapore, October 30, 2015] – The Singapore Armed Forces Volunteer Corps (SAFVC) continues its call for volunteers for various roles in the army, air force and navy.

“Apply to join the SAFVC if you feel you want to play your part to enhance the peace and security of Singapore. Serving your country is deeply meaningful and honourable,” says COL Mike Tan, Commander of SAF Volunteer Corps (SAFVC).

Qualified applicants can choose among the nine volunteer roles under the national defence services in the army, air force and navy:

• Auxiliary Security Trooper
• Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4)
• Defence Psychologist
• Engineering (Airbase Civil Engineer, Naval Safety Engineer and Naval Combat/Platform Engineer)
• InfoMedia Staff
• Legal Specialist Staff
• Maritime Trainers (Maritime Ship Operations or Merchant Ship Engineering Trainers)
• Medical Trainers (Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Radiographers and Medical Technologists)
• Naval Operations (Bridge Watchkeeper and Deck Operator [Seamanship])

The role a volunteer is assigned to will depend mostly on his or her fitness level and qualifications. All volunteers who sign up for the said program will undergo rigorous enlistment, recruitment and training process to ensure assignment to the proper unit and role. The job of each volunteer is primarily to serve as a support unit to the National Servicemen.

[b]Qualifications for SAFVC[/b]

The SAF volunteer must be 18 to 45 years old, not committed to the National Service, must be physically fit and active, and above all, must have the desire to contribute to national peace and security.

SAFVC provides trainings for all individuals qualified to join the cause. Qualified volunteers will serve alongside fulltime National Service Men, NSmen and regular roles.
