[Singapore, 10/05/2016] – The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore’s Ministry of Defence, has released some of the roles for the SAF Volunteer Corps that match their skill and interest. The categories of the roles are divided into Air Force, Navy, and Army.
Auxiliary Security Trooper
The major duty of an auxiliary security trooper is to observe greater security by assisting in SAF events and other organised activities and operations of SAF. They assist in security operations at the access control spots of civilian key installations.
Bridge Watchkeeper
The duty of a bridge watchkeeper is to work on navigational duties on ship tanks board landing (LSTs). The requirement for this role is the ability to swim confidently.
Infomedia Staff
The infomedia staff is the one who supports SAF in public communications. This includes media management and event publicity. The volunteer must possess passion for the arts, writing, photography, and videography. Relevant work experience in journalism and media is a must.
C4 Expert
Command, control, communications and computers (C4) experts administer the Air Force with all-in-one expertise in satellite communications, radio communications, and networks. They are required to give updates and recommendations on the best commercial technologies to the RSAF.
Airbase Civil Engineer
The duty of an airbase civil engineer is to provide support in airfield platform restoration and airbase infrastructure, investigate sites in every project, ensure safety and engineering standards, and provide recommendations on runway and structural road repair. The volunteer must be a certified professional civil engineer.
Merchant Ship Engineering Trainer
The role of a merchant ship engineering trainer is to upgrade the training curriculum pertaining to the required technical competencies for the maritime domain. This is to perform independent audit functions after acquiring relevant experience in the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Volunteer Corps is a uniformed volunteer program organised to provide permanent residents in Singapore the opportunity to contribute to national defence and support the SAF service.
