As a Big Brother who has served with the organization for numerous years, he served with a child who eventually went on to graduate from law school from his own alma mater, the University of Memphis, and become an associate attorney in Glassman’s law firm.

He knows that serving as a Big Brother or Big Sister provides the opportunity to directly impact the lives of young people through one-on-one attention and support. He has helped the organization raise funds twice as the fundraising chairperson, and he also served as a board member for many years. There are so many opportunities for adults to make a difference in the lives of children, and simply spending quality time with a child in difficult circumstances, like one does when participating with Big Brothers Big Sisters, can make all the difference.

The structure of Big Brothers Big Sisters is designed to help volunteers build lasting relationships with their Little Brothers or Little Sisters like Richard Glassman was able to do with the Memphis chapter. The organization promotes accountability, high student aspirations, self-confidence, the avoidance of risky behaviors, and long-term educational success. With mentors like Glassman, Big Brother Big Sisters programs have proven to lower the likelihood of using illegal drugs, skipping school, consuming alcohol, and has even shown to help children get along better with their own families.

Richard Glassman Memphis is an attorney with a long history of success. He has served in the Greater Memphis area for the entirety of his career, having been born, raised, and educated there, and he focuses on practice areas of a variety of types of malpractice, business and commercial litigation, insurance, fraud, premises liability, and high profile cases including misrepresentation, sexual assault, invasion of privacy, and more. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing with wife and children and is an avid fan of the University of Memphis’s athletic programs. He will turn seventy in 2016.
