Stay At Home Moms Ready To Untap Their Professional Potential With Upotential.org

Posted July 24, 2018 by RichardDTaylor

We’re a social enterprise impacting the wage gap or the "motherhood penalty” by returning women to our economic pipeline - one mother at a time.

Untapped Potential is calling all stay at home moms to reignite their professional side by attending our August 2nd Mentor Mingle. It’s a first step in UP’s programmatic approach to help mothers return to work after caregiving. This event will be held at reSET in Hartford on Thursday, August 2nd from 6 PM to 8 PM EDT. Learn more by visiting up_untap.eventbrite.com

The August 2nd Mentor Mingle is part of Untapped Potential’s mission to create a community for women exploring their professional talents after years of being at home. UP program participants can meet mentors, engage with career coaches, and learn from short courses in market-demand fields. This preparation is critical to ensure readiness for UP’s Fall Client Speed Interviews and for participation in curated Flexreturn Internships. These mid-career internships serve as a stepping stone, allowing educated and experienced professionals with a career gap to re-engage with their former careers or explore new career paths.

A few words from women who have participated in Untapped Potential’s programs:

From Colleen B. Candidate: "I am so glad I was able to attend [UP’s Networking Event]! I met new people, was inspired by some amazing women and left feeling a little bit more confident and closer to my return to work!”

From Shannon W., Launcher: "I did a Flexreturn with UP while my 4-year-old was in her last year at preschool part time and my 2-year-old was still home. When both girls were entering a full-day program, my credentials were current and I had the confidence to negotiate the flexibility I needed for a role at my caliber!”

UP’s Mentor Mingle recruits industry mentors who have excelled in their respective fields. Our mentorship is key to supporting UP Candidates in their return-to-work journey. The evening will highlight key speakers including Barret Katuna Ph.D., Executive Officer, Sociologist for Women in Society; Maureen Ross Gemme, MS Ed., CEO of Emerge Leadership Academy; and Candace Freedenberg, Founder of Untapped Potential, Inc. This is a registration-required event. The first 20 attending Candidates will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win FREE access in the upcoming online course for returners offered by UP’s coaches! Interested participants, Candidates and Mentors should sign up at www.upotential.org.
