Rhoda Alosio Finds Healthy Eating to be Easy and Fun

Rhoda Alosio wants to live a healthy lifestyle and makes eating healthy a priority.

There are so many people who aren't taught how to eat healthy as children. In many cases, parents and children were gimmicked into eating a high carbohydrate and high sugar diet as a result of processed foods and clever marketing. Breaking unhealthy eating habits from childhood may be difficult but not impossible.

Rhoda Alosio appreciates how difficult eating healthy can be for busy people and families. "Sometimes you come home from a long day of work and you just want to get something quick and easy. You think, I'll just run up to Subway or McDonalds; one day won't hurt," says Rhoda Alosio. However, the danger is using that excuse routinely. "One day can turn into two days or three days. Eventually, you may lose the desire to cook at all," says Rhoda Alosio.

She solves this problem by preplanning her meals. "I plan my meals for three or more days in advance. When I know what it is I plan on making each day, I have a better idea of what it is I need to buy when I go grocery shopping," says Rhoda Alosio. By buying only what she needs, she avoids buying sugary or high calorie snack foods.

"Some people need help learning what is really healthy. You may not find harm in eating a grilled cheese sandwich every week but the cheese is fattening and white bread is never healthy," says Rhoda Alosio. Her advice? "Try looking online for recipe ideas. Some websites even have a calorie estimate for the meals as well as serving size. To eat healthy, you have to limit what and how much you eat," shares Rhoda Alosio.

To make eating fun, Rhoda Alosio suggests finding unique recipes online. "As a family, try making your own fruit arrangements. Look up new recipe ideas that use vegetables as the main food," says Rhoda Alosio. For pizza lovers, making a homemade pizza with less cheese and only vegetables is a healthy improvement to ordering out.
