Brussels is the capital of Europe, Belgium, and Flander which is an outstanding feat.  It initially started as a fortress then it gradually developed into a business district and transformed into a prime social, political and economic centre.  There are lots of sightseeing opportunities when you visit Brussels from the unique comic strip to the worthwhile experience of their rich culture. What to Do in Brussels Here are some of our suggestions of the best Brussels attractions that you should visit. Grand Place The Grand place is a major attraction when you visit Brussels.  It is a World Heritage site that exudes glamour but its history is less than attractive.  The area started as sandbank which is located at the brooks called ‘Broek Sella’ where the name of the city was derived.  The reclamation of the sandbank transformed it into a lower market where it became a prime destination for German beer and French wines.  Today, the medieval ambiance of the place is still evident on its cobbled streets and is a great place to admire the guardhouses.  Baudelaire and Victor Hugo are just some of the prominent figures who fell in love with the place when they visit Brussels. Hotel de Ville When you visit the Grand Place, you should also not miss the other Brussels attractions nearby such as the gothic hotel of Hotel de Ville.  The construction of the place dates back during 1402 and serves as the seat of the civic government.  It is a very attractive structures adorned with beautiful sculptures, towers, and arched windows.  Climb the tower where you will have an all-encompassing view of the city. Petit Julien or Manneken-PisA major part of the Brussels’ folklore would be the adorable Manneken-Pis or more popularly known as Petit Julien.  This is undoubtedly one of the most photographed landmarks in the entire Brussels attractions despite of the fact that it only measures 60cm in height.  This small statue was designed by a world renowned designer, Jerome Duquesnoy where the water of the fountain emerges from the small penis.  Though the small boy is commonly naked, he has an amazing collection of wardrobe that is comprised of more than 600 outfits. Maison du Roi The Kings House also known as Maison du Roi is a destination that you shouldn’t miss when you visit Brussels.  The museum is specifically designated for Brussels’ history.  This is where the outfits of Manneken-Pis are being stored.   The historical artefacts stored in this place dates back during the Medieval Period.  You will need to pay 4 Euros to get an access to this site. There are lots of places to see in Brussels, you can go to Palais Royal to get a view on the profound history of Brussels or reach the top of the Palais de Justice for a great perspective of the city.  There are truly amazing things to do when you visit Brussels.  Your vacation to Brussels will truly be an experience that you will remember for years to come.
